Isolation Matters

It’s the difference between a set of full, fluffy, thick lashes and lashes that look…fine. That’s right. If you miss isolating one or two lashes in the set, it’s not going to ruin the lashes. They’re going to look okay. Fine. Good enough. But is that the standard you’re going for?

Isolation Takes it to the Next Level

ree

Why settle for good when you can achieve stunning? Bring your lash game to the next level by ensuring proper isolation. Every. Single. Time.

Isolation is the process of separating the natural lash from every other lash before affixing the extension. It’s beneficial for a few reasons:

  • You’ll be able to affix more lashes

  • You won’t get that clumpy look that results when the natural lashes are stuck together

  • You’ll prevent damage to the natural lash by ensuring that each lash and extension can grow and fall out as natural

It takes practice. It takes time. It takes patience. But, as you get more and more experienced, so too will you get better and better at isolation. Before you know it, isolating natural lashes will be second nature!

The Technique

The key to effective isolation is separating that one lash from every other lash. To do that, grab your tweezers and follow these steps:

  • Take the tweezers and line them up vertically to the lashes

  • Keeping the tweezers closed, press the tip to the mid-section of the lashes

  • Slowly open them to isolate a single lash

Imagine parting a beaded curtain with your arms but missing a single strand of beads. That’s isolation, baby!

The Tools

Curved Tweezers. Straight tweezers. Volume tweezers. There’s no right or wrong combination. Just the need to use two pairs. Where you place your fingers and how you hold them – it’s all up to you and determined by your personal comfort. One word of caution! Be careful not to place too much weight on the client’s forehead or in the tweezers themselves.

Which is right for you? Give them all a try! Many technicians like curved tweezers for isolation, but that doesn’t mean it’s a must. The tweezers that allow you to achieve the best and most consistent isolation are the right tweezers for you.

The Why

If your lash sets are good, what are clients saying about you? They’re probably telling their friends, family, and colleagues that you’re good. And that’s not a bad thing for people to say about you. But why settle for good, for when you can be THE BEST? Proper isolation ensures that when your clients leave, they are beside themselves with joy, in awe of the full, fluffy, glam lash set you just gave them. These clients are the clients that will leave excited to tell their friends, families, and colleagues about you. And when those people see your work, they’ll be wowed too! They’ll be blowing up your phone to book the next available opening. All of that, just because you took the time to ensure proper isolation. Wild!
